A slightly softer take on the two-tone sports watch.
The Audemars Piguet Royal oak Offshore Diver Collection has become a staple of the Swiss manufacture since it hit the scene in 2010. Each year, we see a new iteration of the neo-classic dive watch – and this year is no different. You may remember that back in 2013 we saw a black ceramic version, and in 2014 we saw a white ceramic version. This year we have a pink gold example with a grey titanium bezel and links, and grey ceramic screw-locked crowns. Other than that, it is the same Diver that we know and love with the automatic caliber 3120, „mega tapisserie“ dial, sapphire crystal caseback, and inner rotating bezel to measure you diving time.
Why This Watch Matters
Clearly with Audemars Piguet, it is all about choices. Choice of Frosted Gold Royal Oaks, choice of Offshore Chronographs, and choice of Offshore Diver. This is no exception. The pink gold version with grey titanium bezel is a softer color palette than normally offered by the manufacturer and is surely a welcome addition for all you Offshore lovers out there.
As I mentioned earlier, Audemars Piguet is a brand that caters to its clients. Offering an Offshore Diver in pink gold with titanium bezel and grey ceramic screw-down crowns is clearly not the most obvious choice of materials for a dive watch – am I the only one who gets nervous about the idea of diving in a precious metal? Maybe Jason Heaton can weigh in here.
