1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing

The Mercedes-Benz 300SL dominated sportscar racing in the 1950s. Mercedes racked up victories at prestigious races like the Mille Miglia, Monza, the Nurburgring, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. American Mercedes importer Max Hoffman suggested a production car based on the racing version, and the 300SL was born. Every 300SL is special, but this 1955 300SL is rare even among Gullwings. Built in 1955, the car was delivered to New York City where it was purchased by a local resident. The original owner sold it to the current owner in 1967, and the car has remained there since — only two owners since new. Even more remarkable, the car is in absolutely original condition, having never been restored and showing just over 58,000 miles on the clock. A 300SL Gullwing in unrestored condition like this one is nearly unheard of.
